I make custom furniture and decor in small batches - think coffee tables, console tables, mantles, headboards, wall clocks, picture frames, and serving boards. Each piece is designed to quietly anchor your space, fitting into your home and daily life in a way that feels personal and genuine. My style leans minimalist and functional, with a bit of experimentation; I focus on clean lines, honest materials, and subtle details so the wood’s character really shines through. The goal is for every piece to bring a sense of calm, purpose, and something quietly special to your living space.

My approach is flexible and shaped by your preferences; whether working with reclaimed or salvaged American wood like old beams, floorboards, and unique pieces full of history, or using milled wood and combining various materials for your desired look. If you have a sentimental table, beam, or board, I’m happy to discuss incorporating it into your new piece, so your story and vision remain central to the final design.

Because each piece is custom, pricing depends on size, complexity, materials (for example, solid slabs vs. glued-up panels, epoxy work, metal bases), and finish. Once you share basic details type of piece, size, style references, and any special requests, I can usually give you a ballpark range. After we settle on a design, I provide a more detailed estimate. I usually ask for a small deposit to reserve your spot in the build schedule and cover initial materials.

Timelines depend on the size and complexity of the piece, material availability, and how many projects are already in the queue. As a one-person studio, I only take on a limited number of commissions at a time so I can give each piece my full attention. Once I know the details of your project, I’ll share an estimated window and keep you updated if anything shifts.

I’m happy to look at inspiration photos, they’re a great way to understand your taste. I don’t directly copy other makers’ designs, but I’ll pull out the elements you love (leg style, overall proportions, finish, edge profile, etc.) and reinterpret them into a piece that’s uniquely yours and true to my style with reclaimed materials.

Yes. I aim for finishes that balance beauty with real-world use. Most pieces are finished with protective, low-sheen oils or topcoats that stand up to everyday life. For high-use items like coffee tables and serving boards, we’ll choose finishes that make sense for how you plan to use them.

We are based in the Northern Virginia / DC area. I primarily serve local clients for larger pieces (like conference tables, dining tables, mantles, coffee tables, and consoles) and can often deliver in person. Smaller items such as serving boards or wall clocks, coasters may be shippable within the U.S. If you’re outside my area, we can discuss options such as freight or white-glove delivery services depending on the project.

Just reach out through the contact form on purposefuldecors.com with a short note about what you’re thinking -type of piece, rough dimensions, where it will live, and any inspiration photos you have. From there, we’ll schedule a quick call or email exchange to explore ideas, talk budget and timeline, and see if we’re a good fit to work together.
